2007 Christchurch, New Zealand

After talking about it for many years, the annual DDUG Corroboree finally went across the ditch to New Zealand. In August 2007, Dataflex Developers and Users gathered in Christchurch, New Zealand for what promises to be the best Corroboree yet.

Christchurch is the largest city on New Zealands South Island and has a population of over 360,000 people. Christchurch is an ideal tourist destination due to its proximity to the ski fields and other attractions within the Southern Alps.

The Conference took place at the Chateau On The Park hotel. Located near the city, the Chateau On The Park offers first class facilities surrounded by beautiful gardens.

The conference began with the usual Welcoming Event on the 23rd of August, then the conference being held all day Friday, Saturday and then half the day on Sunday. The DDUG Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday the 26th of August.

DDUG and Data Access Asia Pacific also held a one day of training course on Thursday the 23rd of August with Data Access' John Van Houten presenting a hands on training session in Visual Dataflex 12.1. The class was a hands on introduction to the new 12.1 Visual DataFlex Studio. It ran through a number of samples and exercises that touched on most of the new features in the Studio. Attendees built web projects and windows projects consisting of views, reports, web browser objects and web services (both client and server).

John Van Houten will be a guest presenter at the conference. John was in the development of VDF 12 and demonstrated the latest and greatest from Data Access.

Riaz Merchant from Mertech last visited us at the conference in Yeppoon, joined us again this year via the wonders of the internet. Riaz showed us the latest in database connectivity.
